This trip will let you discover Moskenes Island—the most spectacular of the Lofoten Islands—over sea and mountain. Sometimes in a sea kayak in the narrow fjords or along huge white sand beaches, sometimes on a hike to sharp mountain peaks. The Lofotens are a natural paradise: discover them, accompanied by an experienced guide who knows the region perfectly.
DAY BY DAY
Day 1: You meet your guide in the Bodø and then board the boat for the Lofotens. After crossing the Vestfjord (beautiful!), you arrive in the Lofoten Islands and get on a minibus to Sørvågen. There we settle into authentic rorbus for the next six nights.
Day 2: In the morning, you start using your kayak with the guide in the sheltered waters of the Reinefjord. Once your initiation is over, you leave for Vennstad in your kayak. From there, you’ll walk to “Buneset,” one of the finest beaches in the Lofoten Islands. At the end of the afternoon, we go back to Reine and then to our lodgings in Sørvågen.
Day 3: Today we set out on one of the finest hikes in the islands, a climb to the Munkan summit. When the sky is clear you can admire the whole archipelago from this magnificent peak!
Day 4: If the sea’s calm enough, we leave directly from the quays of our Sørvågen lodging to reach the Djupfjord (literally “deep fjord”) a few cable-lengths away. This little excursion will take us to the Vestfjord, which separates continental Norway from the Lofoten Islands. Picnic at the end of the Djupfjord near a “lagoon” with turquoise waters. If time permits, we’ll take a little walk to a lake overlooking the fjord and then go back to Sørvågen at the end of the afternoon.
Day 5: Transfer in the morning to the little village of Fredvang. From there, we leave for a big excursion on the Selfjord.
Day 6: After a short transfer in the morning, we leave for the Kvalvika hike, which was made famous by the Norwegian documentary “North of the Sun.” This wild, fantastic spot seems to come right out of a Jules Verne novel. It has white sand beaches surrounded by impressive dark, granite cliffs.
Day 7: In the morning, we transfer to the hamlet of Mølnaroden and hike to the summit of Narvtinden. From the peak, we’ll have a fantastic view over the arm of the sea that separates the islands of Flakstadøya and Moskenesøya. In the afternoon, we transfer to the port of Moskenes and go back to the continent by the late ferry. We spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Bodø.
Day 8: Transfer to the airport and return to France/Europe.
