We are offering a trip north of the Arctic Circle, which will enable you to explore an area of Europe that is still relatively unknown: Lapland. Lapland is an immense stretch of the arctic that extends across 4 countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia) and that boasts many natural and human treasures. Through original visits and hikes through extraordinary landscapes you will be enchanted by the unearthly atmosphere specific to this area of the world where the sun never sets in summer!
Day 1: Arrive in Bodo airport where you will be met by our French-speaking guide and driven to the small town of Fauske where we will spend the night in accommodation in the shore of the Fjord.
Day 2: Fauske – Narvik – Kiruna
In the morning we head off to Narvik, then we take the E10 road that leads to Sweden through an area of mountains and small trails in the Abisko National Park in Sweden, the starting point of Kungsleden (the “Royal Trail”).
Day 3: Kiruna – Enontekiö
The morning is set aside for an unusual visit to the Kiruna iron mine which is over 500m underground! In the afternoon we head off to the village of Enontekiö in Finland.
Day 4: Enontekiö- Inari
We begin the day with a hike near Enontekiö. In the early afternoon head off to Inari where we settle in for two nights.
Day 5: Inari
In the morning we visit the Siida museum, which is home to the Sámi Museum and Northern Lapland Nature Centre, near Lake Inari. The afternoon is set aside for a peaceful cruise on Lake Inari.
Day 6: Inari - Karasjok – Lakselv
In the morning we head off for the small town of Karasjok in Norway, the capital of the Norway Sami which is home to the Lappish parliament. Visit the Riddo Duottar museum. In the afternoon we go to the tiny village of Lakselv in Norway, near Stabbursdalen National Park.
Day 7: Lakselv – Honningsvag
Today begins with a good hike to a waterfall in Stabbursdalen National Park then in the afternoon we head off to North Cape on Magerøya island.
Day 8: Honningsvag – North Cape – Hammerfest
The morning is set aside for exploring the mythical North Cape. In the afternoon we head off to the small port of Hammerfest.
Day 9: Hammerfest – Seiland – Alta
Not far from Hammerfest we take a small ferry to the island of Seiland where we will go on a short hike far away - very far away - from the hustle and bustle of modern life. In the afternoon we set off for Alta.
Day 10: Alta – Tromso
The morning is set aside for a visit to the Alta museum and a magnificent natural site where there are a great many rock carvings from 5,200 BC to 300 AD. Then in the evening we head off on the road to the town of Tromso.
Day 11: Day visiting Tromso
This day is set aside for exploring the pretty town of Tromso and its museums. In late afternoon we will take the cable car to the top of Storsteinen from where there is a fantastic panoramic view over the town and Fjord.
Day 12: Tromso – Senja
In the morning we head off to Finnsnes followed by the island of Senja. A good hike in Anderdalen National Park. In the evening we settle into our accommodation on the shore of the fjord.
Day 13: Senja – Andennes (Andennes whale-watching trip)
We leave the island of Senja on the ferry which, in summer, goes to the northern-most point of the Vesterålen archipelago. After a fine crossing we reach the village of Andennes where you might opt for a boat trip on the Sea of Norway to go sperm whale watching.
Day 14: Bleik – Laukvik
We cross part of the Vesterålen archipelago and reach Møysalen National Park where we will set off on a short excursion. In the evening we reach the north of the Lofoten islands and settle in for the night in Laukvik.
Day 15: Laukvik – Stamsund
In the morning we head off for Stamsund, we stop off on the way to visit the port of Henningsvaer and the fascinating Viking Museum in Borg.
Day 16: Hike around Stamsund
We set off for a good hike overlooking Stamsund. The hike offers wonderful views of Vestfjord and Leknes plain.
Day 17: Sorvagen – Bodo
We go down to the village of A i Lofoten (southernmost tip of the Lofoten Islands), we stop off on the way to explore the village of Reine. In the early afternoon we take the ferry to Bodo that takes us back to the mainland. We settle in for the night in a hotel in Bodo town centre and dine in a restaurant.
Day 18: Bodo – Back to France
In the morning transfer to Bodo airport and fly back to France.
